I love this to the core. Thinking of it makes me drool. This was passed on to me by my mom. This cannot be called as a recipe, but a simple combination that creates a fantastic taste. It can be had as such or as a combo for rice. Always make it fresh and consume it right away. I am sure it wont last that long to store !. I made a batch of it and controlled myself till taking photos. I finished it off instantly and had to make two more batches at once and finished it all by myself.

While crushing the gooseberry, salt and green chilly imparts their flavour into it, while the salt dissolves, you may remove the excess green chilly. Crush the green chilly to the extent required and discard them. I usually remove the seeds, if not the result is too hot. I used mortar and pestle to do this. Try to use gooseberries that are nicely ripe and pale yellow in colour. It has the best taste and less sourness.

INGREDIENTS

Serves: 2

8-10 Ripe gooseberry

1 green chilly deseeded

1/2 tsp crystal salt or to taste

Method:

 1. Wash the gooseberries. Deseed green chilly. Add gooseberry, green chilly and salt into a mortar and pestle and crush them. Make sure you crush all the gooseberry. Taste the mixture and crush the green chilly even more if required.
